因为昨天在现场看了Ian爷爷的lecture,所以翻出了Ian McKellen(1979),Patrick Stewart和Michael Fassbender的三个版本的“tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow"来看。

对比昨天听的Ian爷爷的现场版,真心觉得只有Patrick爷爷的版本能媲美呀。

1979年的Ian McKellen已经很有见地(见法鲨提过的RSC1979年爵爷的一个lecture),对于”life is finite”这个结论,要表现出绝对而纯粹的“blankness”和“despair”,更加重要的sense而不是sound/rhythm,这是Ian McKellen从1979到昨天都没有变过的对于演绎Shakespeare里面有关death部分(而它们真的占了很大一部分)的理解。但是撇开理论,真正在对台词的掌握上,年轻的Ian McKellen还稍显不足。导致观众有这种想法的,却正好是声音本身带来的用力过猛的迹象。

甜的部分是——在搜索Patrick爷爷关于Macbeth的访谈的时候,发现几乎每一个里面他都要说到Sir Ian McKellen对自己的影响。一个故事是说自己在彩排之前,在路上碰到了Ian McKellen。当时Ian正在排King Lear(打招呼的时候Ian爷爷的第一句话是I'm in the middle of the storm,噗嗤),然后他问Ian对于那段著名的Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow有什么建议。Ian说,重要的是“and”……and, as you can see, in Patrick Stewart's version of Macbeth...lol

And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
